Welcome to our Online Newsletter!
New fabric collections and kits are on the web site all the time. It is always a good idea to check our "What's New and On Sale" page for highlighted items to check out what's just come in and also to see what has been added to the sale bin (where there are lots of great bargains!). You can see all our sale items just by going to the Sale section on our main catalog, where all our sale items are listed according to manufacturer, as well as by theme, and there is a special section for fabrics priced at $5 and $3.99. The sale section is LOADED with new fabrics, many of which are $5 or less, so stock up while you can!
HAPPY VALENTINES WEEK! CELEBRATE WITH US BY JOINING THE PATCHWORK PARTY!
There was such interest in the Patchwork Party for Spring 2007 that the 12 participating shops decided to get together and launch the party a few days early for our newsletter subcribers. So at midnight tonight the quilts will be shown! Yea!
For those of you who are not familiar with how the Party works, I'll do my best to explain. 12 online shops are participating. Each of us received fabric from Moda's Sanctuary collection, and 12 patchwork blocks made using Marty Michell's templates with Sanctuary fabric. Each store was designated to be responsible for kitting up the fabrics for one block for all of you out there who wish to participate in the party. Our block is "Circling Geese" which is actually quite appropriate since we have huge flocks of Canada Geese here which land in the nearby ponds and fields.
I was very excited to see the Sanctuary collection by 3 Sisters, since I am a huge fan of their designs. Almost to my amazement, the primary colors were sage green and lavender, which were the main colors for Scott and Kristen's wedding last summer. I had been wondering how to decorate their room here, so that it would be a special place for them to rest and relax when they came home to Long Island for the weekend. This would be perfect. I could include Kristen's favorite lavender and sage combination, and add some passion red so the quilt would not be so overwhelmingly feminine. Scott is a good sport about indulging me in my preferences for florals, but I thought the red would make the quilt more dramatic and he would appreciate that.
I started with the use of our circling geese block, added more red to it than the original block that is now nestled on the edges of the quilt, and fussy cut my flowers, using Marty's magnificent templates. Laying out the blocks on the design wall, I created a center medallion, and then continued out from there, including the 12 blocks in the border and adding 4 more of my own, concluding with a piped and ruffled edge. Of course, if you are not into ruffles, the quilt can end with a binding, but I wanted something to make the quilt a bit different and shabby chic...so ruffles did the trick. They are red on one side and lavender on the other. And so "Newlyweds' Sanctuary" was created.
Our quilt was lovingly quilted by Dana Goyer of Euless, TX. She put a lot of TLC into the newlywed's quilt! If you are interested in using her services, please email us and we will forward your requests to her.
Soon I'll unveil the entire Newlywed's Santuary, including the "Bride's Napping Quilt" and accessories for their room. Very chic! I love it!
HERE'S HOW YOU JOIN IN THE FUN!
While you are on our site, stop by the Patchwork Party section of our site and order your block kit. It's $6 for the kit, which includes all the fabrics for the circlinggeese block as you see it on our site, instructions for construction, template outlines, and shipping.
I've placed other items in that category that you may find helpful in constructing your blocks.
Then go to the Patchwork Party Web Site, print your Party planner, and click on the links to visit each store. Check off each store as you purchase your blocks. Each of us have finished our quilts in a unique way. If you have a preference for the way one quilt is finished, then you may purchase that shop's finishing kit and instructions. Of course we hope you like ours! ;-)
If you prefer to do your own quilt design, we have some helpful items for that as well, and lots of sanctuary fabrics arriving for your project.
Valentine's Day is Wednesday. Remember to treat those you love with extra special care! If you need to drop a hint for a special Valentine's gift, we do have gift certificates ready to send via email for that last minute gift. A note hidden in a box of chocolates that your gift certificate is waiting for you inside your email box isn't a bad idea either, is it? That way you can have bon bons while you sew. Yummmmmmmmmmmm
Be sure to visit our Kit section for a look at the beautiful English Garden Kit. We have this quilt in McCall's April 2007 issue and the kits are selling out quickly. If you wish to purchase one, it's best to do so early, as quantities are limited.
I hope you all have a wonderful Valetines Day and feel the love all month. We thank you for your continued support and purchases. Our customers are the best! We are sending hugs and kisses out to you with all your packages. xoxoxox
We have the new Wisteria Lane fabrics from Northcott in, as well as the Flower Block of the Month. We have 2 kits from Wisteria Lane. One is available now (in 2 colorways) and the other is coming in May 2007 of the Quilter Magazine.
The Flower Block of the Month fabrics are really neat. Vibrant color, and I love the way Nancy Mahoney is using them in the 30" quilts. How you use them is your option, but we'd love to send you a yard of each fabric with coordinating blenders each month! Better than flowers and they don't wilt!

We all hope you enjoy shopping on our site, and if we can help you with anything, please email us!
Happy stitching!
Lisa, Rich and the gang
